“Otsego should be proud of their Chamber Singers today... They created beautiful music and truly represented Otsego with pride,” were the words of Otsego Choir Director Meredith Lincoln about the Otsego Chamber Singers’ State Choral Festival performance on Monday, May 4.

The team of 16 students traveled to the MSVMA State Choral Festival at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Having earned their ticket by achieving a Division 1 – Excellent rating at the MSVMA District Festival, this group was representing the Otsego Bulldogs’ vocal talents as some of the best in the state.

Their selected works included Cantate Domino, If Music Be the Food of Love, and Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal. These selections represented an advanced challenge level for our students and demonstrated their versatility and range.

The State Festival represents a unique learning experience, as it consists of their performance as well as a clinical session with an adjudicator, this year Brandon Williams, Director of Choral Activities at Rutgers University. Williams supported our students following their performance by giving a coaching session, providing constructive feedback, artistic suggestions, and technical exercises to improve their future performances.

The Chamber Singers walked away from the event having earned a Division II – Good rating. This amazing performance is a reflection of their hard work and dedication to improving their craft every time they perform. Congratulations, Chamber Singers!
