West Campus High School’s Class of 2026 chose the motto, “Successful people find ways to be successful.” On Sunday, May 5, they brought those words to life as they walked across the stage at the Otsego High School auditorium to receive their diplomas, accompanied by the River Cities Concert Band’s rendition of “Pomp and Circumstance.”

Graduates were welcomed by their teacher, Steve Long, and recognized by several district representatives in attendance, including Superintendent Dr. Christie Robinson, Director of Secondary Instruction Dr. Mark Rollandini, and members of the Board of Education: President Amy Stender, Secretary Shannon Goodwin, and Trustee Mike Keeler.

West Campus High School is a nontraditional program designed to provide flexible learning environments that meet the needs of each individual student. Reflecting on his students, Steve Long shared, “Helping them believe they can be successful in school, that it’s worth the effort and that graduation is possible, is why we’re here. I became a teacher to make an impact. Seeing students who never thought they’d finish school graduate and grow into amazing young men and women means everything.”

The ceremony included a special performance of “A Rockwell Portrait” performed by the River Cities Concert Band, followed by an address from graduate Karsyn Johnson. In her speech, Karsyn reflected on her journey and the support she received from Mr. Long, paraprofessional Janine Borling, and her family, noting that this encouragement helped her believe in herself and reach this milestone.
