The award-winning Otsego Marching Band has been hard at work practicing for their upcoming show, Sky Blue!

Familiar sounds of fall are ringing loud and clear on the OPS campus. The amazing sounds are from the Otsego Marching Band. This year’s show is the third in the “blue” trilogy. There was Ice Blue, then Ocean Blue; now there is Sky Blue.  The show will feature the following songs:

  • Dreamland by Glass Animals
  • Jupiter, from the Planets, by Gustav Holst
  • Mr. Blue Sky by the Electric Light Orchestra
  • Venus, from the Planets, by Gustav Holst
  • A Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay
  • Chorale from Jupiter, from the Planets, by Gustav Holst

There’s always something unique in an Otsego Marching Band performance; this year is no different. “We will be ‘in the clouds’ so to speak, as we will have cloud props that light up on the field,” says Mitch Piersma, Band Director. “We have outstanding soloists and a variety of instruments playing them. The percussion feature is going to be another barn burner and will show off our very talented front ensemble and drum line! Our color guard has been working once a week for the entire summer.”

The band is at 107 members strong - the highest it has been since 2016. “I am excited for the incoming freshman class, as they have many good players and good marchers.  I am looking forward to seeing what this group can do!” The first performance will be September 5th at the first home football game.
