Otsego Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer Courtney as the next principal of Otsego High School, effective August 1st, 2026.

We'd like to share our gratitude to outgoing principal Thomas Reed for his leadership and service to Otsego students and staff. Reed has accepted a superintendent position with Bridgman Public Schools. Please join us in congratulating him as he takes on this exciting opportunity!

Courtney brings 24 years of experience in education, all with Missoula County Public Schools in Missoula, Montana. Over the course of her career, she has served in a wide range of roles, including teacher, Dean of Students, Activities Director, Assistant Principal, and, for the past eight years, building principal.

As an experienced educational leader, Courtney is committed to ensuring every student graduates prepared for college, career, and life. Throughout her career, she has led innovative, schoolwide initiatives focused on academic excellence, student engagement, and real-world readiness. Her work includes helping develop two career academy models, expanding dual enrollment opportunities, and building strong partnerships with post-secondary institutions and community organizations.

Courtney is also passionate about creating systems that support all learners. Her leadership has emphasized standards-based instruction, teacher clarity, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), along with strengthening mental health resources and inclusive practices for students.

“At the heart of my leadership is a belief in the power of relationships,” Courtney shared. “I am committed to fostering a positive, collaborative school culture where students, staff, and families feel valued, supported, and inspired to achieve their best.”

A graduate of Western Michigan University, Courtney is excited to return to Michigan with her family. She and her husband have two children, one of whom will attend Otsego High School this fall.

“I am thrilled to join the Otsego community and look forward to working with students, staff, and families,” Courtney said.
