Otsego Aquatic Club

New to Fall 2024 - Otsego Aquatic Club Extended Season!

Beginning Monday September 16th - swimmers will get the opportunity to start their club season EARLY! With the upgraded facility, multiple teams are about to share the pool during practice time. This Fall 2024, we are opening up Club TWO months early so swimmers can continue their Summer training, or get a head start for Winter!

This year we will not hold formal tryouts, interested participants are welcome to come during the first week of practice to see if Club is a good fit!

PRACTICE 

Begins Monday September 16th

Practice will run Monday through Thursday - weeks all groups are unable to practice due to Home Swim Meets, OAC may practice on Friday evenings

• Gold Group 3:15-4:30pm
• Blue Group 4:30-5:30pm
• White Group 5-5:30pm

No Practice: 10/31, 11/22, 11/28, 11/29, 12/20, and 1/1

ONLY Gold Group will practice evenings of Home Meets (9/17, 9/24, 10/1, 10/15, 10/17, 11/8, 1/7, 1/21, & 2/11)

Days when OPS has NO SCHOOL but it is NOT a HOLIDAY  (10/18, 10/21, 11/25-11/27, 12/23, 12/26, 12/27, 12/30, 12/31, 1/2, 1/3, & 2/3-2/7)

Club will practice:

• Gold Group 8:00-9:30am
• Blue Group 9:30-10:30am
• White Group 10:30-11:15am

Most of these meets have a 10:30am Warm Up time, with the meet starting at 11:30am.

Otsego Middle School students interested in swimming for their home team should join the Otsego Aquatic Club! 

Middle School swimmers will have the opportunity to compete at the Middle School MISCA meet at the end of January! This is a meet you must swim qualifying times in order to participate in.

MISCA Information & Qualifying Times

This summer 2024, kids ages 6-18 had the opportunity to work on diving as a part of the Otsego Aquatic Club! We hope to continue to keep diving a part of the Otsego Aquatic Club.

Winter Diving information will be announced soon! Check back for more details.

You DO NOT have to swim on the Club team in order to dive. Divers DO need to be able to swim one length of the pool with endurance, to show that they can handle diving into the deep end and getting out of the pool safely. Divers will work with  OHS Divers & the OHS Dive Coach. 

Divers will be divided by age. You do not have to attend Otsego Public Schools to participate. Openings limited to 10 participants per group. 

Swimmers in the Gold Group are the most advanced. Their practice time begins at 3:15pm, so this group is mostly made up of Middle and High School swimmers, as well as Homeschool & Virtual Students who can meet the appropriate group requirements.

Gold Group swimmers should be able to swim more than 50 yards repeatedly, as well as have a basic knowledge of freestyle, backstroke, and  breaststroke or butterfly. This group will have more challenging workouts to improve endurance, stroke refinement, and competitive mindset. 

The Blue Group is for swimmers who can confidently swim beyond 25 yards, and have a basic knowledge of free style, backstroke, and rotary breathing.

Swimmers in this group are usually ages 9 and older, and practices will consist of drills to work on the four competitive strokes, as well as flip turns and starts/dives. 

The White Group is for our newest and youngest swimmers. This group is for swimmers who are ready to move BEYOND swim  lessons. Practices for White Group will start for 30 minutes, then increase to 45 minute practices later in the season. 

Swimmers should be able to swim one length of the pool (25yards) with endurance - using either backstroke or freestyle swim skills to join this group.

Club participants will work closely with coaches on swimming drills to begin to build skills in the four competitive strokes.
