Lifeguard/CPR Class
Interested in being a lifeguard?
Otsego Public schools is offering a Lifesaving/CPR Certification Class over the intersession week, February 13-16. This will be a hybrid class where participants will do online training at home prior to the in-water training.
Online training will be used to safely learn the responsibilities, techniques and strategies of lifeguarding. This part of the training must be completed prior to the in-water time.

Age requirement: Participants must be 15 or turn 15 before the end of the class.
Swimming requirements:
- Participants need to be able to swim 300 yards (12 lengths) without touching the bottom of the pool.
- Participants need to be able to tread water using an egg-beater or breaststroke kick with their hands out of the water for 2 minutes.
- Participants need to be able to swim 15 yards and retrieve a 10lb brick and swim the brick back to the side of the pool and get out of the pool without using a ladder or their hands while swimming back.

Enjoy swimming all year round at the Otsego Public Schools Pool at Washington Street Elementary School. We offer swim lessons, exercise classes and open swim times.
Pool Offerings:
Lap Swim
Lap swim is a great way for swimmers to get in an evening exercise routine. Swimmers follow the lanes. Students are allowed to attend as long as they are doing laps, as well.
Open Swim
Open swim times are for anyone to come and have a fun time! Swimmers under the age of 16 must take a swim test to be allowed to jump off the diving board.
Aqua Aerobics
This upbeat water aerobics exercise routine is a great workout! Adults only.
Swim/Dive Lessons
We offer group swim lessons as well as private lessons throughout the year Swim lessons are available for kids of all ages to improve their swimming and/or diving skills. Look for the sign-ups on this page when they are available.
Pool Parties
The Otsego pool is available to rent for parties for anyone in the community. Prices vary based on the number of swimmers and the amount of time the pool is rented.
Swim Club
Swim Club is an extra-curricular activity for students ages 6 and up. Students need to be able to swim a full length of the pool on their own. It is very important that all guests to our pool follow our procedures and guidelines to ensure everyone has a great, safe experience. Please be sure to read the rules posted at the pool.
** Notice: Children under the age of 12 must have an adult (18+) in the pool with them; children 12-16 must have an adult present (in the pool, on pool deck, or in the balcony)
