BASE Child Care

CARES for 2020-21 School Year
CARES - Childcare Assistance Response and Enrichment Service - will be our new childcare program for students on the days when they are not in school in person. BASE will still be available for before and after school for the in-person days.

If you will need this service, please go to the CARES Program link to register and learn more about how the program will work.
Dear Parents,
We now have access to a new online Procare program that will allow you to view your Procare accounts.  Procare is the program that we use for family information and billing.  By creating an account you will be able to make changes to your address and phone numbers, view your preschool statements and account balance, print out reports for tax purposes and make credit card payments.  Using the Procare program to make a payment will allow your credit card payment to post instantly to your account.  The card processing fee is now 2.62% where the program we were using was 3.65%.  If you are interested in making online payment or even just having access to view your account here is how you need to set up an account:Visit www.myprocare.com.  Enter the e-mail address that you provided to us when registering your child for preschool.  Once you have entered this information the site will send you a confirmation code to enter, create a password and you are finished.

NOTE: We are currently full at Washington Street Elementary for BASE for the 20-21 school year. If we are able to expand, we will go through our wait list.

Dear Parents,

We are excited to announce that BASE will reopen for the summer starting June 15th! There will be new policies in place to help ensure that everyone stays healthy and happy. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we adjust to new practices.

  • First, we have designed a curbside drop-off and health check. Only students and staff will enter the buildings. You will pull up into the main entrance area of Washington Street Elementary and be asked to help with a quick screening of your child. This will consist of a temperature check and answering a few questions. Once cleared, they will be led in to wash their hands and enter their rooms.  There will only be 10-12 kids per room, and toys will be rotated and sanitized on a daily basis. Kids will remain with the students in their class and will not intermingle with other students so areas like the playground and gym will be rotated by the groups.
  • Second we are asking that your child bring as little as possible to the school.  We will allow electronics on Monday, Wednesday and Friday but they will not be allowed to be shared.  We ask that all other toys stay home.  Summer Base will be utilizing the free breakfast and lunch program and will provide a snack to your child.  If you would like to send your child with a sack breakfast and lunch, feel free to do so.
  • Lastly, we have suspended field trips and swim times in the pool for the summer. We will be able to take the kids across the street to the cross country course for hikes and other nature related activities.

In addition to the steps we are taking, please help us by keeping your child home if he/she is sick. If your child has a fever of 100 degrees or higher, has a worsening cough or stomach issues, please keep them home. If your child develops any of these symptoms while in Base, they will be taken to a designated room to rest and you will be called to pick up your child.

If any household members contract COVID-19, please contact the Base program immediately so we can alert the proper health officials and take appropriate action to sanitize and communicate. Any identifying information will remain confidential.

Again, we appreciate your understanding of these changes for the summer. These will be revisited depending upon guidance from the Allegan County Health Department, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the Governor's Office.  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at lwalbrook@otsegops.org.

Thank you,

Lacey Walbrook

BASE is our before and after-school child care program. It is a licensed daycare designed to provide quality care for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. BASE is licensed through the Department of Health and Human Services and qualifies for a childcare tax credit. BASE also runs Monday-Friday all day during the summer. Our registration packets are linked below. If you have trouble accessing them, please pick up a copy at any school office or call for one to be sent to you. Our BASE workers are responsible, competent adults who share a love of children.
