COVID-19 CASES OF THOSE WHO ATTEND, WORK AT OPS
Below you will find information on the latest positive and probable cases of COVID-19 provided to us by the county health departments in our district (Allegan and Kalamazoo). This information is updated within 24 hours after receiving notification from those departments. This reporting requirement went into effect on October 12, 2020.

We will continue to provide our district dashboard each Thursday (above) of new weekly cases and total cases as we have since the start of our school year; however, we will also share information by school building in this section as we are informed of new cases. This data may include probable (those in quarantine who develop symptoms but have not been tested) and confirmed cases among students, staff, administration, coaches, or visitors, if the person with COVID-19 was in the building or participating in a school-sponsored function during their infectious period.

Please see our Health & Safety Protocol section on the menu above for cleaning information.

ACTIONS YOU CAN TAKE
We recommend taking action to help limit the spread of COVID-19, even if staff members or students are not experiencing symptoms:
  • Wear a mask (covering mouth and nose) while in public places or if people who do not live with you must visit your home.
  • Practice social distancing.
  • Practice frequent hand washing (using soap for 20 seconds or hand sanitizer with 60% alcohol)
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or with the inside of your elbow and immediately wash your hands.
  • Stay home if you are sick
  • Answer the phone if the health department contacts you, as a contact tracer may be trying to reach you with important information.

Those members of the school Community who were or are suspected to have been in Close Contact with a positive case will be notified by either the Allegan or Kalamazoo County Health Departments. Thank you for understanding that, due to medical privacy laws, we are not able to release the names of the individuals with COVID-19. We will continue to communicate changes and updates with you.

If you have any questions, contact the Allegan County Health Department at 269-673-5411. For answers to your COVID-19 questions, please call the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services COVID-19 Hotline at 888-535-6136 or visit Michigan.gov/Coronavirus.
COVID-19 Screening and Confirmed Cases
  • Teachers and staff must self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms prior to coming to school each day.
  • Parents and guardians will be asked to screen students in their household for COVID-19 symptoms prior to coming to school each day. To learn more about COVID-19 symptoms, see the information from the CDC.
  • Visitors will be limited, but will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms upon entry into the office if they will be in other parts of the building.
  • Staff, students, and visitors who test positive for COVID-19, or those who are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, must stay at home throughout the infection period and cannot return to campus until they have been cleared by their health professional.
  • Students who exhibit symptoms of COVID-19 at school will be immediately separated from other students and sent home.
  • If any student or staff member at a school tests positive for COVID-19, the district will work with the local health department and follow its quarantine guidance and potential closure of a school.
