On Friday afternoon, our superintendent informed families through our call system of a tip that came in through the OK2SAY tipline. There were not an specifics, rather a general comment, but OPS is focused on school safety, will take all of these tips seriously and wants to keep our families informed. The message is as follows:
"We want to let you know that we were made aware of a tip through OK2SAY that a middle school student made a comment to classmates about bringing a weapon to school. From the tip, the police were notified and immediately began investigating. While there isn’t any proof this was a credible threat, police will continue to investigate and submit a report to the prosecutor’s office. The school is also following policies and procedures. We want to commend the person who called in this tip and spoke up. Our students’ safety is a top priority and we want to continue to keep you informed; we appreciate your support of our efforts at Otsego Public Schools. Thank you."
