Students Create Magnificent Things

On Monday, students here for summer classes listened to the story “The Most Magnificent Thing” where a young girl tries to make the most magnificent thing. She loves to create so she thought it would be easy. But, after gathering supplies and starting to build, she realizes it’s not so easy and has to rethink, redesign and redo her project. With frustration building, she reflects on all she’s done and knows exactly what to do.

Students took that same approach in creating what they pictured to be the most magnificent thing. They put their creative caps on to design, build, and problem-solve with materials to create something - anything they wanted. Elementary technology teacher Mr. Miller led the project by reading the book to start. He then showed them what they could do with different craft supplies.

The first step for the kids was to draw what they thought their creation would look like. Once the drawing was complete, the kids got to work. They had tons of different supplies they could use. They grabbed those and got to work building. The kids created some very magnificent things!

Their final step in the project was to write a story about their “most magnificent thing” and present them to the class.
