March 1st was the official kick-off of March is Reading Month and each of our elementary schools held assemblies to share the fun activities in store during the next 30 days. There are dress-up days, reading nights, prizes and much more!
Alamo Elementary kicked off their month with a visit from Binder Park Zoo. Their theme is "Wild About Reading" so they heard about different wild animals and even got to pet a snake!
Dix Street's theme is "Building Great Readers" and they kicked off their month with a celebration of PRIDE awards, student of the month and a building-wide reading time. Everyone brought a book to the gym to read together for 10 minutes.
Washington Street students will "Sea what they can Read" in March and kicked off their month with a song, "Under the Sea" and a story acted out by their teachers.
All students have a bookmark to keep track of their reading in March which will earn them prizes throughout and at the end of the month.
