Physical activity is a great part of winter break, getting outside, getting fresh air and having lots of time to play. Students in PAWS, Physical Activity With Spirit, were learning how great physical activity is for your body over the last six weeks.
This year’s theme was Fitness Rocks, playing off of the summer trend of painting, hiding and finding unique rocks. For their last day in PAWS, students painted their own rock surrounding the other theme of love and kindness. Mrs. Nieuwenhuis runs the PAWS program at Washington Street Elementary and painted several rocks herself to give to the kids; she would draw a name each week from those who attended both days of PAWS for that week. PAWS runs at all three elementary schools and will start later in the year for Dix Street and Alamo.
