From the Superintendent:
Over the past few years our high school has been exhibiting a darkening color on the precast stones. This darkening has been identified as Blue-Green Algae, which has become more prevalent on precast stones in recent years throughout the Midwest. Last February, our Board of Education was provided a presentation on the Blue-Green Algae along with how to clean and prevent future growth. Since last February, I have met with different building restoration companies to discuss their processes in this cleanup. The district has decided to move forward with Building Restoration, Inc. out of Kalamazoo, Mi.
Over the next few months you will see them on site cleaning, caulking and sealing the precast stones. We expect this work to be completed by January (weather permitting) with the cost covered by the Building & Site Sinking Fund.
If at any time you have questions concerning the process, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
