OMS Hosts Parent University on Vaping

In an effort to make parents aware of one of the dangerous trends among teens, OMS is hosting a webinar to talk about the truth about vaping.

Heidi Denton, Prevention Specialist at Allegan County Mental Health, will present information and resources in a Zoom session on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 6:30pm. Often, kids think vaping is harmless, when that is not true. Most vapes contain nicotine and other harmful chemicals.

This year, the OMS STAND group (Students Taking A New Direction) have focused their efforts on keeping kids away from vaping. There are signs in the hallways that share the dangers of vaping and they’ve held different activities during lunch to help raise awareness. Their efforts will be highlighted with Maranda from WOOD-TV8 later this month in a special series focused on the dangers of vaping.

This Parent University session is just the latest effort to help parents understand vaping and talk with their kids about it. You can tune in Wednesday at this Zoom link.
