Watson Signs for Football at Michigan Tech

It’s a game he loves and has played most of his life, now Owen Watson’s football career will continue after graduation. He’s made a commitment to continue his academics and athletics at Michigan Tech University. “To know that the hard work I have put in over the years has finally started to pay off as I get to continue playing the game I love at the next level.” As a part of the GLIAC Division II Conference, it will be a different game and Watson is looking forward to that. “I am excited to be in a new environment and earn a role on a higher level team in the best Division II football conference in the country,” he adds.

He excels on and off the field. Watson is the Student Council President, and a part of the O-Club, National Honor Society, L.I.T. Team (Leaders In Training) and the Van Andel Institute Purple Committee. He was also named the DAR Good Citizen by the OHS staff for 2019-20.  On the field, he earned 1st Team All-Conference, a spot on the Kalamazoo Dream Team, was the Kalamazoo Area Player of the Week and made Academic All-State. “My most memorable moment was going to the playoffs in back-to-back seasons for the first time in years,” he says of his high school experience. He also plays basketball and baseball.

Watson has above a 4.0 GPA and plans to study Engineering Management at Michigan Tech.
