Congratulations to the 5th Cohort of the Early College Allegan County. Otsego had 13 of 48 students selected for the program this year. These students bring the total number of Otsego students in the ECAC program to 50.
There is an ECAC selection committee that looks over applications and interviews each student before granting acceptance. The students apply in 10th grade and are notified at the start of third trimester. These students will begin a mix of college and high school course beginning in the fall. They’ll attend the Tech Center for college courses through Lake Michigan College (LMC) for a half day and attend high school the other half for the next two years. In the program, they commit to an additional year of high school where they will attend college classes all day including an online high school math course to finish out both their high school requirements and ECAC classes. At the end, they’ll receive an Associate’s Degree, 62 transferable credit hours or a certification depending on the track they choose.
