It's an annual event for middle schoolers to clash over cash. It's the Clash of the Cash coordinated by the OMS Student Council for Sylvia's Place, a safe house for women who are abused. This fundraiser has been going on for at least 14 years.
The goal this year is $2500. Each year, students choose something specific to support for the kids who stay at Sylvia's Place. Last year, the money helped purchase playground equipment; this year, they are raising money to help them buy shoes, backpacks and field trips for the kids.
Money is collected in each STRIVE class, and much like the food drive, each one is competing with the other to see which class can collected the most money and receive prizes. If students reach their goal, the entire Middle School get s crazy hair day! The first place STRIVE class in each grade level get a sundae party and open gym time. Second place winners get two open gym times.
The fundraising effort ends Friday, May 18th.
