Supt. Denny Patzer presents Amy McPherson with the Outstanding Citizen Award at the Feb. 13 Board Meeting.
Amy McPherson, Dix Street Elementary PTO President, receives the 2012 Outstanding Citizen Award.

Each year, Otsego Public Schools recognizes a volunteer that goes above and beyond in helping our school and staff enhance our students’ education. The 2012 recipient is Amy McPherson, who is in her eighth year as the President of the Dix Street Elementary PTO.

“Many of the great extracurricular programs at Dix Street exist and flourish due to her support and leadership on the PTO,” said Dix Street Principal Mark Rollandini. He mentioned the school open house, annual Fun Run fundraiser, holiday parties, special events, assemblies and staff recognition as some of the work she does.

“She spends countless hours at the school organizing, planning and implementing the great programs that come out of PTO. A steadfast supporter of OPS, Amy is a volunteer worthy of recognition,” Rollandini adds.

Superintendent Denny Patzer presented McPherson with her award at Monday night’s Board of Education meeting, “Her level of duty and service and commitment to the district and community is just great,” Patzer said.

Dix Street’s Physical Education teacher Darcy Bentley also praises McPherson for her hard work on school events and says she’s not only the planner, but is there to run each event. “She always has a smile is so positive about everything she does,” Bentley said, “She is always willing to do whatever we need.”

In addition, McPherson takes time to volunteer in her child’s classroom. “She just does an amazing job working with staff and kids at Dix St. We appreciate all that she does for us!” Bentley adds.
