Linking Students

Because they are often misunderstood, students across the autism spectrum might not find good, strong, social connections in school. But three of them at Otsego are breaking through thanks to a pilot program called “Links.”

Dear Santa,

From preschool to 5th grade, a very special writing project is nearly completed at Dix Street Elementary. The upper elementary students are helping the younger students get their wish lists to Santa.

VFW Awards

UPDATE: Each year, the National Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Ladies Auxiliary, launch an essay contest to read and hear students’ views of different patriotic topics. Middle school students write a 300-400 word essay, while high school students record an audio essay 3-5 minutes in length.

Elementary Elections

Students are getting a glimpse into Election Day by holding their own elections and learning all about the process. Voting took place in many classrooms across the district; here's a closer look at two of them.

Let the Music Play

Sweet sounds will fill the middle school gym from 4pm Friday to 4pm Saturday in a special fundraiser that only comes around once every four years. The high school bands are raising money for their upcoming trip to Florida where they’ll perform at Disney and take part in a special session with a professional musician and learn to play one of the Disney songs.

Double the Fun

It was only fitting to hold Twin Day on Halloween; students were encouraged to find a friend and dress up as a twin. The Red Ribbon Week message was “Team Up Against Drugs.” Red Ribbon Week is a national awareness week of the dangers of drugs and alcohol and encourages students to say no to drugs and take a pledge to make healthy lifestyle decisions.

Groovin' for Health
