The Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra plays beautiful music and they wanted to share their love of music with our students. As a part of their outreach programs, they put on a musical petting zoo at Alamo Elementary earlier this month for the two fifth grade classes.
The KSO musicians brought several instruments for the students to learn about and try out themselves. They taught them the differences in each instrument and the unique features on each one that makes it sound the way it does. Each student then got to try their hands at playing the instrument. Students tried out the violin, trumpet, trombone, several different drums, clarinet, cello and even learned the art of conducting.
